Do you know a young person who’s checked out of school but still wants a bright future? We have an opportunity for rangatahi aged approximately 16 – 18, living in Kirikiriroa Hamilton, who are ready to prepare for work but are disengaged from school.

The SPAN programme is an opportunity for rangatahi to be fully supported into sustainable, meaningful work and training, with a bright future ahead for them and their whānau.

School not working out for you but still want a bright future?

Smart Waikato and Blue Light are collaborating to deliver this year-long programme to eighty 16-18 year olds over a two-year period in Kirikiriroa. This is an individualised holistic service incorporating driver training, in-depth careers consulting, career hauora resources, work readiness skills, and transitions support leading to meaningful work and/or further training. The tailor-made programme bridges access to the professional services the individual needs and accompanies them on their journey, to ensure they are supported into sustainable pathways.

SPAN – Bridging the Gap, is funded under MSD’s He Poutama Rangatahi initiative. This collaboration brings each party’s complementary strengths together for the benefit of rangatahi; Blue Light – experts in Driver Training and Licensing, Cultural Identity, Life Skills and Pastoral Care; and Smart Waikato experts in Work Readiness, Careers and Employment Pathways, Career Resources, Employer Support, Professional Development, Project Management & Reporting, Research & Evaluation.
