Position Description: Work Placement Facilitator

Reports to:

Operations Manager

Direct reports:

n/a

Location: Hamilton-Waikato Team: SPAN

Key purpose of role:

Work with approximately 25 youth to secure full-time work for young unemployed people aged 18 to 24 years old. Support participants to gain and maintain sustainable employment (91 plus days continuous employment). Work with youth coaches, career coaches and other Smart Waikato staff to diminish barriers to young unemployed people achieving full time employment success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with all team members to mentor young jobseekers and support them into full-time sustainable employment.
  • Support jobseekers with work readiness
  • Work with team members to identify employment opportunities for the cohort
  • Match participants to appropriate jobs
  • Work with employers to ensure that they are culturally and youth ready, and that they provide a buddy system of pastoral care
  • Work with individuals to assist them to secure a job
  • Provide post-employment support to both individuals and employers
  • And such other duties allocated which assist to fulfil the purpose of the role
  • Support other Smart Waikato staff on additional short-term projects as required

Expected outcomes:

  • Achieve contractual obligations such as:
    • At least 60 percent of the cohort employed full time
    • At least 70 percent of the above to remain in employment for at least 91 days
  • Additional outcomes related to other short term projects

Organisational obligations

  • As a representative of the organisation the Facilitator is required to be familiar and comply with all Smart Waikato Trust policies including, but not limited to, Health and Safety Policy, Driving and Vehicle Use Policy, Child and Young Person Protection Policy.
  • Uphold the professionalism and integrity of the organisation in all behaviours and communications, including social media.

  • Health and safety requirements upheld
  • Hold valid driver licence, valid WOF and car registration (if using own vehicle), Driving and Vehicle Use Policy upheld

Qualifications and licences

Full car driver license required

Experience

  • Experienced facilitator
  • Experienced professional or educator
  • Sound stakeholder management experience
  • Human Resource/ Careers experience preferred
  • Sales

Professional & Technical Knowledge – knowledge of the local and regional socio-economic environment required for the role:

  • Develops and maintains professional knowledge and business contacts to add value to the project.
  • Technical competency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook

Other:

  • Travel throughout the Waikato region may be a requirement of the role
  • It is a requirement of this role that the incumbent passes a police vetting check
